As much as I loathe Wal-Mart they have the best local ammo prices in my area. I've been buying Federal .22 ammo from them in 550 round bricks for years. Last time I bought ammo a few months back a 550 round brick was $14.97. Today it was $19.97.

Has anyone else seen this? That is a HUGE jump for what has been a fairly stable price for a few years.

It's always been $18.97 here, so you've had it lucky for awhile. For me, I haven't been shooting in weeks with no intention of doing so. Love guns, love shooting, but I've finally said enough is enough when it comes to the cost of ammo. Got enough stored in case of emergency but that's it. No interest in reloading as it's just trading money for time.

Wow. You were lucky to get it that cheap. It's been 19.97 around here for a loooong time.

Was at walmart last night, it was around 20 not sure exact price. But it's been that way for better part of a year. I usually buy from another place because same price but don't have to wait for someone to unlock the case for me.

Yes, 15 a few months ago and it jumped to 19 about 3 weeks ago. I think ammo prices will continue to rise until a few months after the election, in a similar fashion to what they did in 2008.

fuel expense to get it to the store from supplier is being passed on to you the consumer. Lots of things are going to get more expensive...food...clothing...services...and on it goes

Yes, I noticed that too. It was not a gradual increase, but a solid $4 jump. I was as suprised and disappointed as anyone.
Also mad at myself for not stocking up more on this essential round.

Been $19 or so here for quite a while; a year or two at least. That said, just three or four years ago, same stuff at same store was $8.96; more than doubled in less than four years.

It's been $19.97 here in Southern Ohio for quite a while, but since they price match I just tell the clerk $13.99 which is on a local ad in Northern Ohio.

yes i noticed 22 ammo going up, but the wolf ammo stays the same. Good for when I want pistol ammo but bad when I want 22 ammo.

Was 18.97 for the last couple of years, since Xmas it jumped to 19.97. Sucks, it wasn't long ago it was 9.97 for the same box.

Your absolutely correct! I also have noticed with food products that the size has decreased but the prices go up.

You guys should do what I've done. Every time I buy a box of ammo, I leave the price tag on it and write the date on it. It's just interesting to see the progression of the price increases.

Enlightening to do so, but annoying and disheartening at the same time. A couple years ago we finished shooting up some 1990's blazer 9mm that had $3.89 stickers on the boxes. Pay right about that much for .22's nowadays.

    Ditto.

Been 18.97 in my AO for probably 2-3 years.
