I know I'm going to get flamed, I know it is a tool, I know they look cool worn out...., I know they are not for fashion....BUT, I have a question about my FDE Glock 23 Gen 3. It has some serious kydex wear, black disoloring on the FDE frame. I never noticed frame wear on my other black glocks (black frame, black holster). So on my FDE frame it is noticeable. Does anyone know before I go to town scrubbing it with miscellaneous....is there anything I can do or any recommendations? Thanks for the help!

Is this a real Lipseys FDE - or a coated black frame?

I have several ODs that I use in holsters for competiton, drawing a lot for at least 2 years, and they have no 'black' on the OD from doing so.

You'll certainly know for sure if you 'scrub' because you'll scrub off the coating.

I could be wrong but I do not believe they made an FDE frame on Gen 3's. Now if yhou start scrubbing and you see black then it is a coated frame because a true FDE frame will be FDE all the way through. Post a pic if you have one.

And I was incorrect they did make a Gen 3 23. Just saw it on Lipseys site.

I can get some pics and will upload soon when I have the opportunity. I thought it was possible this happened to others and there was a commonly know fix. Like I said there are black wear marks on the frame I assume from the kydex holster. No biggie I bought it used recently like this. Not a game changer for me it shoots great, just would prefer to get the marks out if easy enough. Thx!

Incorrect, gen 3 and 4's were made for Lipseys.

I was at Smyrna when they were being put together in March. As a side note, there will be another run in September of as I recall 10,000 more FDE's.

Man, I really hope that's true Tahco. I picked up a Gen 4 19 in FDE when they first released them but I didn't have the spare funds to get the 21 I also wanted. Hopefully I'll get another chance this time around. :)

I posted the above it looks very light around the trigger guard and behind the accessory rails but is much darker in person.

Try Simple Green. Will not hurt the polymer and will probally remove the marks

Just tried, both with heavy cloth and toothbrush together. Nothing. Hmmm. Thanks for the tip though.

Try a Mr. Clean magic eraser. I used one on a plastic floor cabinet in my garage that had grease streaks, scuff marks, etc. After degreasers all failed, ill be damned if that magic eraser and water didn't have it looking new.

My OD get some black marks like that from my holsters. Scratching over the black with my finger nail usually removes it.
