Was at a gun store today and they had a gen3 34 FDE on display. Now it was a consignment gun with a asking price more than $100 over retail.
The Clerk said it was real, but I am not sure.
I was looking at the FDE's close I never saw a 34 or 35. So was this real or some coated gun that is about to make some a lot of money.

Either it was coated or it was a G34 on a FDE G17 frame.

He said Gen 3, there were OD green Gen 3 guns that look more FDE than green, I use to own quite a few........

Yes but that's OD...not FDE. He specifically stated FDE. I realize they are close in color. I have a Gen3 FDE G17 that I can easily turn into a Gen3 FDE G34....

    Ta daaaa.....

Ok so the other side of his statement is Gen 3, I don't know what his store has, but there were factory Gen 3 guns which people referred to as FDE, but Glocks name was OD green, the color matched no ones furniture in either FDE or OD green. There was no Glock factory FDE name in the Gen 3 guns, but most people mistook the OD Green for FDE, get it?

I would venture to say his dealer has an "OD Green" G34 because of the price increase and how difficult it is to find those guns.

Unless you had your Gen 3 frame cerakoted/painted, you DO NOT have a factory FDE Gen 3 gun, you have a Gen 3 OD green pistol.

Either way doesn't matter to me, I am just trying to help the guy out. Congratulations, you won another argument on the internet.

Is there a way to tell if it is glock made or coated?

Ask to see the box that comes with the gun, look at the label, first verify the serial numbers are the same.

If it says OD on it and the #'s match you have the real thing, if the numbers match and it doesn't say anything it was coated/painted, etc.

Umm..I don't think there was an argument to be won, but whatever. We both just presented both sides of the possibilities. Now the OP has the full picture.

I honestly wasn't trying to argue. :dunno:

You came out and told me your gun is FDE and Gen 3. There was no such gun ever made. So like I said before, unless your frame was painted you have a Gen 3 OD Green Glock.

And they made the G34 in OD Green, no one needs to swap slides to any frame.

Alright guy calm down. Just kidding thank you. I am going to go back and take a closer look. The (34,35) size is all I'm missing so if it is the real deal I will add it to the collection.

In bold is what you wrote, if it came that color from Glock, it's OD Green, they never made "FDE" Gen 3 guns. this is what I was originally trying to explain.

So you either have an OD Green Gen 3 Glock, or your frame was painted in some way.

I'm perfectly calm brother, just want to make sure you don't learn "incorrect" information, and so you can get it straight, because if you want the gun in that color in Gen 3 there aren't a lot left NIB.

Good luck and let us know what happens. :wavey:

Well now you are wrong and I will fight you. Yes Glock did make Gen3 FDE Glocks. My frame is not painted and is full blown Gen3 FDE. There is nothing OD about my gun. My G17 FDE Glock case even says "Dark Earth" on the label. So now you are wrong and I actually did win a fight on the internet. :tongueout:

Guess what? You did win the internet argument!

I have (2) FDE Gen 4 guns, and I did not know they made Gen 3 guns in that color.

I was WRONG! That's what I get for going off of my old ways. Haven't owned a Glock for almost 2 years until less than a month ago, and all my old Gen 3"FDE" looking guns were actually OD green, and I owned A LOT of them.

So I publicly apologize for being an @$$ whole, and you are 100% correct.

    :wolf:

It would just drive me crazy back when I owned my guns when people would say FDE, because the OD Green looked more tan or more green depending on the lighting of the pictures.

So here's some Gen 4 FDE goodness for everyone to feel better:

The real question is the fact it was a G34 in FDE.

    These are the options....

    1. It was actually an OD G34 mistakenly labeled as FDE
    2. It was a G34 slide on a FDE G17 frame (like the one I picture above)
    3. It's a G34 but the frame has been painted FDE

So far, Glock has not made a G34 in FDE. It simply doesn't exist. Unless someone is friends with Gaston Glock and got a custom piece. LOL.
