A poll on everybodys favorite airline
I have to be partial on this one. I thing All Nippon Airways, Nippon Cargo Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air China and the Royal Air Force are my favorites. These are all the planes that we dispatch for. ;f
as a pilot, I hate flying airlines, so my favorite is "me" ;f
That will vary based on where in the country you live and where you typically travel. I fly 60,000 to 80,000 miles per year on United. This is in adition to ~ 125 hours per year that I fly my Mooney. United goes where I go with schedules that work for business travel for me. Their Red Carpet Clubs are quite nice, too.
Occasionally it just doesn't make sense for me to fly United. A few weeks ago while the Mooney was in for paint, I had to fly commercially to Las Vegas. Typically this would be a Southwest flight as they have more direct flights, but I decided to try America West. I hadn't flown America West in 7-8 years, with good reason. Bad experience. I gave them a chance.
Thursday I'm flying to Lubbock. Normally I would fly myself there but I need to be back Friday night and have a personal rule against flying myself home after a long day of work. I'm flying Continental (again, Southwest is an option, but is typically my final option). It might be a good experience . . .
Definitely not Delta for me. Gave me a BIG hassle transporting my gun. Flipping agent at the counter did not even know their own policy. On top of that, her dumb ***** supervisor supported her. Had to pull a computer print-out of their policy out of my pocket to set them straight. I fly 5-6 times a year. $300-400 a ticket, that should cost them a couple of grand for their rudeness and ignorance.
United, get to hear their com.
Southwest (home state) or Continental (home town) are the lines I prefer to fly.
Besides the price what is it you like about SW???? Is it getting bumped to 1st class????;f
Heh... well, I've heard all the cattle car jokes, and the complaints about having to get there early, etc, but I enjoy the flight more so than any other airline I've flown. The jokes are good and corny, but at least they have jokes.
United, since my wife and I get to fly free,
From time to time I have to fly from Dulles to LA for work.
4 years ago (when I first started) I would fly United, to Burbank.
Now I am flying Jet Blue to Long Beach.
Jet Blue has a non-stop flight (so I avoid the layover in Denver); as a result I can leave DC at 5:00 am and still make an early morning meeting in LA.
Not to mention the price is generally much lower with Jet Blue over United for the "same" trip.
I dont have an airline of choice anymore; I look for a flight that gets me from place to place in the quickest time (very little layovers) for a reasonable price.
I am willing to pay more for less time in flight, if the increase is reasonable.
After some 10 years travelling corporately I would hang my hat in Continental's corner any day. Sure I have to make a quick jaunt down to IAH but from there the world is mine. Great planes, awesome in-flight crews, decent food, great clubs and good flight prices.
Being Dallas based - I refuse to fly AA and donated my 200K+ miles I had with them to Make-A-Wish.
When I was west coast based I flew a ton of America West and Alaska.
;f this one
