    >>I would like to say farwell to a friend of mine, Kraken...a Komodo Dragon I was responsible for hatching while working at the Smithsonian National Zoo some dozen years ago. This fine animal died this past Christmas day, and she will be missed. Below is a pic of her hatching back in September 1992...TW<<

    Neat photo! :)

What happened to her? Sick? Old age? Finished out normal life span?

I know nothing about these critters ;Q

    >>Actually, she died of a ruptured cyst in her repro tract...something which could have been detected and treated by full knock down (chemical immobilization) annual exams - which have not taken place in the last few years since I left the Zoo.

Here is a pic of Kraken as a young adult...enjoy...TW<<

    >>Very nice, Mild Bill...nice pic too. There is great satisfaction in raising critters up from hatchlings/new borns and then seeing to it the cycle of life continues...TW<<
