What do all y'all make of the current conflagration over farmed salmon?

I really like to eat salmon but my salmon budget doesn't go very far when I have to have 'wild caught' shipped to me from Alaska or elsewhere.

    I hear ya...

farm salmon is so plentiul and cheaper than wild poached salmon. I actually broken down and bought 1lb of wild coho salmon to smoke friday on my smoker. It was right at 11.99 per pound vrs 5.99 for farm raised.

BTW: The wild stuff is better and have a deep reddish meat color vrs the orange coloring of far, raised which is actually a coloring addictive introduce into the fish diet. Watch out for bones in the wild stuff.

Wild and fresh is best. But fresh farmed fish is better than frozen anything IMO.

The price difference just doesn't warrant me buying wild. The Farm-raised Salmon can be bought here for about 3.99 per pound. It's triple that or more to get wild.
