I am looking for a remote video security system for my ranch. I want the ability to view video from my computer or smart device.

    Any suggestions?

I have this unit that worked well. It is currently being upgraded to a different control system.

It consists of a 3 wheeled cart driven by a 1 hp motor off of 2 car batteries.
not shown is an internet camera going thru a wireless bridge.

It is driven around the property by computer control over the internet while watching the camera image on the screen.
The nice thing is that it is controlled over the internet so operation even from several states away is possible.

Nice when you are on vacation.

Do you want to do the perimeter, or just specific spots? I put an IR RF system w/audio in my foaling barn that's thirty meters from the house. You'd think the mares were in the house, it's that good (from Parts Express). HH

Specific spots, mainly to view buildings and make sure someone else's cows aren't eating my grass.

Yes. It is currently being upgraded but the project is on the back burner because of other paying work.

Sad thing is you have to have High speed connection for most anything. :(
I would suggest checking cameras, recording quality before you buy. I have looked at some systems that look dang good. Then I get 20' from camera, record and play back. I can hardly see its me. 10' they are great but any further...

Check out Verizon IPVision over 3G. I am using it to monitor a remote transfer station. Although mine runs on 120volt power I believe there is a solar powered solution.
