Farewell to my friends in General Glocking. I've been a contributor here since December 1998--longer than that if you consider the old GlockTalk site. I'm 65, retired, and ready to start removing some stress from my life. We have a new class of less than safety concious shooters here that have taken the joy out of trying to help. Weeks ago I made a resolution to retire from this form on 1/01/2010 and intend to keep it. I shall continure to answer all PM's and E-mails, and I will continure to moderate and participate in my three forums: GSSF, Bull Dawgs and Competition. I shall continue to post in Sights/Lights, but that is all. I'm tired and need to spend more time doing the things I most enjoy--family time, reloading, shooting and fishing.

    Thanks for the memories.
    -Daniel F. Ryan

Sorry to hear you're limiting your time here, but it is understandable. I've always paid particular attention to your posts because they were obviously always well-intentioned and laced with sage advice.

Take care and enjoy your new found time!

Will try to help carry the GAP Mantle!

Thanks for all your posts and insight. Enjoy your new-found freedom, and try not to just clutter it up with other things.

    Cheers,

Thus the need for guys like you to continue to educate. Although there are a number of "bozos" on here from time to time... I've met many safe shooters in the real world.

I encourage you to stay, continue offering your great advice to the majority, and try to ignore the occasional idiot. Thanks!

    Danny,
Thanks for all you have done to help others on GT. Your comments will be missed but you said you will be available for PM's. I am your age and understand why you want/need to cut back a little.

    Thanks again,
    James

29,977 posts, all of which I think I can safely say were helpful. Thanks for everything. Sad to see you go, but completely understandable.

Enjoy your time, and spend it well, because we never get it back! Happy new year!

Good for you Danny. I don't blame you one bit. It gets frustrating from time to time on any forum but I can definitely see this one in particular pushing a sane man over the edge. See in the other areas.

Sorry to see you go, but I get it. The annonymity of the the web has changed the tenor of discourse, along with society. It can get tiresome.

I have always enjoyed, respected, and learned a few things from your comments.

    Enjoy everyday.

Danny: As more states become CCW "shall issue" for carry, the more of the general class of folks will appear as they also feel the need for self protection. This will differ from what we have seen for the last 30 or more years, it will just take a different approach to educate. (More repetitious and basic) to bring these newbies on board. At 65, you have served your time, I will miss your contributions but perhaps it is time for some of the newer, more stable educators to step up to the plate and field some of these issues to help us keep our 2nd amendment rights without the careless ones getting them taken away.

good luck and good wishes! jb
