    Hi Guys,

I'm planning a trip to San Fran with my brother and sister (with their significant others), 3 couples all together. We've never been and I was wondering where should we stay? Union square? Fishermans warf? any hotels right outside the tourist section that might have better prices?

Any helpful advice will be appreciated

I was just there over the Christmas/New Years. I found the AAA discounts to be the best by far! I stayed at a 3 Star Marroit in the East Bay for $80 a night for 10 days.

The $40 to join AAA pays for itself.

Oh, our two best things we did were the beach and Alcatraz. Book Alcatraz a week or so early, it is an excellent tour. Go early at 9 or 10am to avoid the rush.

I had fun, but as glad to come home.

Are you planning on staying in SF for most of your trip or are you looking at more of a Northern California vacation? Will you have a car or are you looking at using public transportation? These will play an important role in your choice.

If you are interested in an Alcatraz Island tour, I suggest you book early since tickets can be hard to come by at particular times.

DONT GO!!!! Everyone know everybody that goes to Kallifonnia turns in to a brainless homosexual freak utterly useless drain on society with no common sence or moral values, so my only question is why would you go somewhere that does that to people :dunno:

I love San Fran. Probably my favorite city. Couldn't live there. But love visiting.

Make sure you check out Golden Gate Park, The Presidio and Baker Beach. Fisherman's Warf would be a great place to stay. There are too many cool things to do in that city.

All those gaysuckers actually come from Texas!

Do the 49 Mile Scenic Trail. When you cross the Golden Gate, goto Muir Woods, Napa or Sonoma for some winetasting, and get to Sausalito just before sunset for a view of The City across the Bay.
Hop on BART for a trip UNDER the bay to Berkley at Shattuck. Walk to the Gourmet Ghetto for pizza at the CheeseBoard and then to Telegraph Ave at night. (not on acid)
Another day trip would be Santa Cruz, Nasa Ames, Silicon Valley.
Bring a sweater(or buy a sweatshirt at Fisherman's Wharf) and THIS year a waterproof shell. Our first decent rainfall in 5 years!
Catch the cable that goes to Ghiradelli Square(Maritime Museum, Fisherman's Wharf, Marina District)
Go to Castro District during the Day.(nightime if you're from Texas)
    That's Three days right there.

Comfortable Shoes, Batteries, wool socks and comfortable shoes and more batteries

Did anyone ever ask for your AAA card at check in? Because when I do Military rate online they never ask.

I like to stay near the wharf and love eating in the small places on the wharf.

Can only suggest a trip up Hwy 1 north of the Golden Gate, Yosemite and Lake Tahoo. All can be done in a long day or a couple.
