If a fake suppressor needs to be regulated by the ATF, then with that logic so should all toy guns.
Including squirt guns.
So what do you do if you currently own one such as a GSG-5????
I understand the tube has to be sent to the company along with the serial number.
I've been shooting mine this week and I'll bet money no one can tell the difference between the fake supressor being on the gun and not.
The next time some friends shoot with me I'm going to do a blind test, if I haven't returned the tube to the dealer.
I guess if stupid s*** like this is all the feds have to do with their time we must be pretty safe from such as terrorists or gangs with illegal guns, etc.
im pretty sure this is in how they were constructed, they used some techniques which are actually used for building real suppresors .. just no porting and baffles in it , but the main tube is still there,
if they built it solid or something like that it would be fine, albeit weigh 5 pounds at least
My next question, lets say you remove the fake suppressor and return it, and it takes several months to get you a replacement, Are you not in possession of a SBR while the suppressor is out getting replaced? is the BATF going to give you a free pass if you're caught?
This has gotten real retarded.
The ATF has a long, hallowed tradition of retardation. Anyone remember the Akins Accelerator? Or any of the numerous other times the ATF has reversed its positions at great financial cost to various companies and consumers?
What's the point in regulating fake silencers? They look scary to hoplophobes?
It would be nice if some of Obama's "change and transparency" trickled down to the ATF.
Standardized testing procedures, instead of 'make it up as you go.
'Decisions based on real science and law rather than whims and wants.
To bad it'll never happen.
I was looking forward to getting a GSG5 for this very item they're banning...asses
Lets give the BATFE the boot so we can afford grandma's meds for just a bit longer. Think of the $$ that is wasted on this crap.
(the black choppers are coming for me now!)
No, the BBL is still 16 inches and the fake silencer was a hollow tube that slipped over it. And the hollowness of the fake silencer is the problem. I think the replacement will be solid except for the part the slips over the BBL.
SBR the thing and buy a real can for it.
keep shooting it and have fun
One specific "fake silencer" is being deemed an NFA item by the ATF not all "fake silencers" like your thread title says. The only one affected is the GSG5SD, not the regular one the M2 Carbine has.
Still crap, but why over exaggerate things?
i dont think this "ruling" was anything new either,
those laws were already on the books,
gsg just chose to ignore them ?
People need to chill in here.
Its deemed a suppressor because the GSG 'fake' suppressor suppresses noise.
End of story.
People need to learn how to read before they get all hot headed about stuff. Believe it or not, there are people just as smart as you are out there.
