Does anyone actually think these plastic 'face shields' do ANYTHING to protect the wearer? The air can't just circulate past it? Really want to ask these people if they're attending Welding School.

I don't think they do much, but I wouldn't have minded having one a couple days ago, when the neighbor kid playing with my my child turned toward me just as she laughed out loud and I felt spittle hit my nose and go in my mouth (which was open as I was laughing, too). Either one of us wearing a shield would have been nice about that time.

Lately, I've seen people wearing these:

Talk about limited effectiveness! (Although, even that would have helped in my situation above, I suppose).

I wear one. How many people have you heard say they have trouble breathing with a mask on? I can breathe with mine on I might look stupid to you but I really don't give a crap what you think of me. It covers my mouth and nose better then a face diaper.

I thought the point of wearing a mask or shield was to protect others from you , not to protect you from them . We have heard so many different , guides who knows .

Doesn't filter out or stop any airborne particles at all. Get your money back. Remember, everyone has to have at LEAST N95 filtration or better, for their protection...that's what they've been screaming at us for the last six months, anyhow...

Sorry, not buying it. I have a N95 and can't breathe with it on, so face shield. Am in high risk health category. Nobody gets out of life alive.

No way a virus can get by that fort knox like piece of plastic. I've heard that the face shield can also protect you from vampires, werewolves, and ghosts! So you should feel super ultra protected wearing your face shield. ;)

    Face shields WORK!!!

I had one on for about an hour while trimming the shoulders of the road with the brush saw and I didn't catch the Wu-Flu!!

What more proof does anyone need??

Also, you didn't get killed by a ghost, vampire, or werewolf, did ya? Proving how extra ultra totally safe you are, when hidden behind a tiny piece of unsealed plastic.

Don't be silly...it was daytime so the vampires are all asleep in their coffins.
It isn't a full moon, so the werewolfs are all chillin' out with their day jobs.
The ghosts around here are getting ready for Halloween.

You gotta' get a grip on real science.

Face shields protect you from the same thing as cloth masks, only better. They protect you from droplets and spittle. And they protect your eyes. They are easier to breath in. Cloth masks do not protect you from aerosols, which now the CDC says that COVid-19 also transmits via aerosol.

They protect others from you just as well as the masks they require you to wear.

They do allow for easier identification, and lip reading.

Yeti just rips your arms off instead.

The plastic face shields only stop the spit. To take it to the next level you need a full face mask and P100 filters.

Face shields and masks offer exactly the same amount of protection. That level is right between no protection and next to none. The placebo effect is all you are getting. That virus is measured in microns, the gap between your face and shield is an inch? No way anything can bypass that, right?
