And some citizens just can't be bothered to cast their vote in person. Just can't seem to find the time. They should be ashamed. Folks, we have a great country. Remember the sacrifices men like the ones in the video make, and at least devote time enough to vote in person.

I hope you're not trolling this thread because I said I don't vote in person in another thread. You realize not everyone here has access to a voting booth, right?

Jade, I hope you know I have nothing but the utmost respect for you. Actually, I did not know everyone didn't have access to a voting booth. Also, I would appreciate your efforts to educate me regarding your not having access to a voting booth. My apologies for showing my ignorance. If you just don't have the time or inclination to educate me on this subject, I certainly understand.

I appreciate that, thank you, and I apologize if I came off as short in my response.

Simply put, I lived in Vancouver WA for 25 years, and I never once saw a single voting booth anywhere. Sure, there's probably the possibility I missed it, or didn't consider it....perhaps there was one down town at the Elections Office? I honestly never gave it much thought....my ballot showed up in the mail, I filled it out, and I dropped it off at a ballot box.

But WA votes by mail. If you're licensed to drive, you are registered to vote. There's not a lot that I can do about that and, while I'm sure there's somewhere in Washington State where I can vote in person, it doesn't look like it was near me.

In as far as where I live right now, I don't know. I just moved to Sweet Home Oregon at the end of June, and I haven't gotten my driver's license here yet, so I'm not yet registered. But it sounds like more mail-in ballots too...also nothing I can do about that. I also doubt that this town of 8,000 has a place to vote in person, but I suppose I could be wrong. Maybe Lebanon 13 miles down the highway has one?

Honestly, I didn't know people had such a problem with this until recently ("recently" meaning the past few years). Trust me, I take my voting VERY seriously, and it IS a requirement for ME. I can't control what other people do or how they feel about voting, but I take it very seriously indeed.

But speaking for myself, I don't believe in conspiracies about ballot-box stuffing and fake ballots that somehow can't be faked in person, or boxes full of ballots showing up in trunks, etc etc. Sorry.

You are welcome to your opinion on the matter. To me, voting is voting....you are patriotic no matter how you do it, as long as you do it.

I wouldn't make it as a guard there. Stab me in the foot with a bayonet and I'd cuss, grab it and try and stab your foot.
They are certainly better men than all of us. Better Americans too.

Thanks Jade. I was unaware that there are parts of the country where voting in person is simply not an option.

Seems like several years ago there were some problems with the mail and a good many ballots cast by military personnel weren't counted.
I'm sure it happens every election cycle.

Meh, they sent me one of those little green cards telling me that I could try out for the Armies elite Infantry division, the OLD GUARD! IMO I was already in the Armies Elite Infantry division, the 82d Airborne.

One of my best friends was a Specialist (Ordinance Disposal, IIRC) in the 101st for 4 years. Never saw action though; he was stationed in Germany. Was almost deployed on 9/11, but I guess they sent you guys instead.

Dude's barely my size, but he's got calves like tree trunks. He went to OCS, later became a Captain stationed at Fort Hood. Did two tours overseas to Afghanistan and Iraq. Medically retired now, although I think he still works for the Army. Now he lives in Wisconsin.

You guys some tough mo-fo's. Thanks for your service. :flag:
