Hey guys, so, you have your CC firearm with you. I'm sure everyone, if not, most of you carry a spare mag. How do you go about carrying the extra mag? And how many do you carry?

One full size mag in my front left pocket or left cargo pocket when wearing shorts.

2 in left back pocket bullet tips facing left, so when I grab them I know how they are indexed, pointer fingertip touches the round, This way I can drop a mag, slam a fresh one in the magwell, without taking my eyes off the target...

Not to hijack the thread, but Drew what are you carrying in the ankle holster? The reason I ask is because I have started reading about people carrying a BUG in the ankle holster but also carrying spare mags to fit both firearms.

I tried a Sparks IWB mag pouch and hated it. It was very uncomfortable. I also used the Brommeland single OWB which was far more comfortable. In the end I decided a pocket was best for me.

I carry two spare 1911 mags in a double carrier on the left side of my belt. (I am right handed.) That will soon be in two single carriers though. I like that will give me more options than a double. I may also space them out a little more to give my hand more room to reach between them when I grab one out.

I sometime will also toss a BUG in my left front pocket in addition to my two reloads.

If you carry this type of setup in an OWB rig, is that not the same as saying " I have a gun on me." ? Just curious. I'm starting to think I need to carry a spare mag for the malfunction possibility, but don't know the best way. I like the loose mag in a pocket idea, but I'm sure there are many reasons not to carry this way. I carry my little flashlight in my pocket for work mostly, a multitool and cell phone on my belt, for work as well. I carry a pocket knife clipped on my pocket. I don't want to look like a mall ninja or batman with a mag holder and gun. Thoughts?

Wait a minute! Now you've identified a loophole that the anti-gun people in NYS will need to close.

You've bypassed the 10 round mag limit nicely, by carrying TWO 10 rounders

If I'm carrying a firearm IWB, its going to feel too cluncky. I would carry the mag in a black pouch because I carry my cell phone in a black leather pouch on my belt, so it would like alittle like a phone.

Check out the Desantis Mag-Packer. It's a pocket holster for a magazine.

I carried IWB Sparks for a while when still a LEO, very uncomfortable. Switched Outside much better. Then got a bit lazy and put one in my left front pocket.

In jeans, its strong side (right) "watch" pocket with untucked shirt. Any strong side disadvantage to me is made up for by the fact that I never have to "find" the mag.

More importantly, TRAIN on your reloads.
