Pics from the T2 Lab explosion in Jacksonville back in December. The company made gasoline additives and this was certainly a huge haz-mat incident. The call came out as a chemical leak but was quickly upgraded to a third alarm and mass casualty incident. Massive damage to surrounding buildings and three fatalities. These pics were taken by off duty JFRD Chief Gerbert.

Wow, that looks like one heck of an incident! Love the picture of the 9 captains all in a group there (assuming red helmet = captain in that district).

Here, the red helmets are for our Haz-Mat team. Incidentally, Jacksonville was a pioneer in the development of hazmat response and our current team is 1st class!

Wow, those are some great pics, thanks for sharing.

The masked up white hat carrying the backboarded pt. is amazing. White hats are chief officers in your neck of the woods, right?

You're right! Our chiefs are usually "command only" so that's a rare shot.

Mobile homes / trailers go up like match sticks. Our neighboring town has a mobile home park and whenever there is an alarm there everyone in my department starts heading towards the firehouse in case of a call for mutual aid.

I was off duty when the call for this one came in. I beat the engine to it by 10 minutes. It was a bed of coals by the time the first engine arrived. Mobile homes burn incredibly fast. I have been told from start of fire till when it collapses can be a little as 7-12 minutes under the right conditions.

Every mobile home I've been to has been torn down after the fire anyway. Even when we make a good stop I guess it doesn't take much fire, smoke, and water to ruin a trailer....
