Is there anyway to update macros?

I have Win XP Pro and Office XP. When I open any Office app, I get a popup saying that macros has expired and do I want to enable or disable it. I traced the problem back to my older version of Adobe Acrobat 4.0. Searching Adobe's tech support pages, all I can find is that I should always enable it.

Is there a way to "fix" this short of upgrading Acrobat? These popups are annoying.

Are you sure Adobe Acrobat is the culprit?

    Ver 4.0? wow thats old.
Is this Acrobat reader or Adobe Acrobat the program?
    You have to be specific.

My suggestion is to remove Acrobat 4.0 and see if that error continues to pop back up.

It is Acrobat, not Acrobat Reader.

Yup, it is old but it does everything I want.

I never had a problem until the day I needed to convert a document into a PDF so I installed the Acrobat. That is when the problem started. Uninstall/reinstall produces same results.

Virus definitions are up to date, scans clean. I am behind both hard and soft firewalls.
