Wednesday morning about 3am I woke up with some decent pain in my lower left abdomen. Took some Advil, and stayed up until work but luckily the pain went away and was fine working that day and yesterday. Was off today, played with the kids then mowed the grass.

Then the pain started back and got worse. Called my doctor, told them what was going on and they told me to come in instead of doing a telephone call check up this like they’re doing now. Came to the conclusion we figured it was a kidney stone. Just to be safe they sent me to get a ct scan to see the size.

Well on my way home the pain got damn near unbearable. They prescribed me pain meds but it was basically too late. Knew my blood pressure was high because of the pain and was afraid of something worse happening. Tried saving money by going to the doctor instead of ER first. Had to bite the bullet and go anyways.

At the ER, no blood in the urine so they’re thinking it’s something else. My doctor never sent me the results of the test, the ER doctor called to try to get them and of course they’re closed. They got the pain under control and said I could go home and hopefully it is a stone and passes or get another damn ct scan. Worried it could be something worse and from the amount of pain I had before I just wanted to get it figured out.

Well luckily, technically, it was a small stone seen on the new scan instead of something worse because I was kind of worried. So I got a doctors visit, ER visit and 2 ct scans today. I have insurance but I know I’m sure I’ll get a decent bill.

    Ugh, happy Friday

Kidney stones are the absolute worst. Had surgery to have my right kidney cleaned out 5 years ago. Best of luck OP.

Dilaudid or hydromorphone is your best pain reliever for kidney stone. Ask for it by name! I wish you a quick and painless recovery.

Welcome to “The Bicycle Club”. Called thusly for the peddling motion one makes trying to find a comfortable position. I was amazed at the havoc something the size of a tiny breadcrumb can cause. I’ve had five of them.

I hope you feel better soon and don’t form anymore stones. I had a left ureter lithotomy to remove a staghorn stone several years ago. I was left with a jagged, ugly, nine inch scar on my left side. My urologist refers to to it as the shark bite.

I've had a bunch. The first one made me pass out momentarily due to the pain. They suck.

I have never had a kidney stone and don't want to get one..but i drink mostly water, sometimes with a little lemon, also coffee, milk and protein shakes. I think the amount of water I drink helps to flush the kidneys....

I don't drink soda or ice tea ....but an occasional beer

My uncle, who I named my first son after, did 2 tours in Vietnam that included a helicopter crash, broke his back in a construction accident, owned a biker bar in the 70s, and has had dozens of back surgeries (still walking by the way)....

He was always said that everything he has ever been thru, kidney stones hurt the worst.

and that’s from a man know has dealt with a lot of pain.

I hope you get better soon.
