Men arrested in pot bust ordered held without bail
Pair charged in seizure of up to $7 million in marijuana.

    By Steven Kreytak

The two men accused in what officials described as one of Central Texas' biggest marijuana busts in decades appeared in federal court Thursday and were each ordered held without bail pending a hearing next week.

Officials said they arrested Hoang Dang Huv, 35, and Ky Dac Ho, 27, Wednesday during raids at five homes in Travis County and one in Williamson County and seized 1,400 high-grade marijuana plants and about 200 pounds of loose marijuana.

All six homes were in suburban neighborhoods and featured elaborate indoor marijuana-growing operations, authorities said. They said the marijuana seized is worth up to $7 million.

Both men are charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture and distribute it. The charge is punishable by five to 40 years in prison. No defense lawyers for the men are named in court records.

Huv was arrested when a search warrant was executed at a home on Conner Downs Drive near Pflugerville in Travis County, where 285 marijuana plants were growing inside, according to an arrest affidavit. Huv lived at that house and was inside when authorities arrived, the affidavit said.

Ho was arrested during a raid on the house where he lived on Colinton Avenue in Northeast Austin , an affidavit said. Authorities found 295 marijuana plants inside.

Federal prosecutors asked that the men be held in jail pending trial; U.S. Magistrate Judge Andy Austin ordered them jailed until a hearing Tuesday.

We had a huge Asian backed grow operation busted in Houston last year.

Same thing. Multiple grow houses. Lots of plants. Mucho money.
