I am PSYCHED!!! I've been waiting a year for this so this season better be at least as good or better than last season. I even bought a shirt at wal-mart with three zombies and (I think) a glow in the dark "The Walking Dead" on it!!

Being the hip parents that we are, my wife and I are taking my son ad his best friend to a Skillet concert tonight so I will miss the first episode. I am hoping they replay it around midnight like they did last year.

Got it on the DVR. I really like how it's a show about people and families in a SHTF situation instead of Resident Evil. I think that if you take out the zombies and you add in bird flu, war, etc, it still works.

To a degree yes. But zombies are de-humanized for the most part. You put in bird flu and the like and it's not just about escaping and shooting as many as you need to. Empathy and emotions kick in. That would make it MUCH more difficult for the writers I think. This way it is about survival and entertainment. Not a great deal of morality and such.

But yes, it is nice to see a more realistic approach to SHTF in that family dynamic that is present here rather than just a few main characters out for themselves which has grown rather stale.

And the anti-gun attitude here is starting to piss me off. Sound precaution or not, disarming people in such a series is just not cool.

I liked the first half a lot, then it started to get a bit slow. I knew that kid was in trouble with his first step, that's a wild animal, it's like a national park... "Go over there next to the bear so I can get a picture of you petting him."

Their reason is that they don't need "untrained" people popping off shots, bringing more undead to them, etc. That doesn't make them "anti-gun".

I just got into this in another thread. Questions that were not able to be answered but maybe you can...

1. Why would the cops have guns?
2. How do the cops make their shots quiet?
3. How two cops will save everyone in the group when they were unable to do so when "sister" got killed last season in the camp/attack scene?

It is without a doubt an anti-gun theme...whether it continues or not, we shall see.
