I'm going through a ton of stuff, and lately there hasn't been much I can count on.. between school, money issues, and all else.

Sometimes I just want to load up my guns, a palate of ammo, and head up to Alaska for some good ol fishing/hunting/wilderness survival

Or maybe take a tent down south, and just camp on the beach for a few months?

Anyone ever go off to do something fresh, new or crazy?:dunno:

I think a nice break would give me a chance to refocus and reset my goals and direction in life:thumbsup:

...or maybe it wouldn't, and id stay a bum for ever :whistling:

Isolation and privacy. Not for vacation. For living.

I always wanted a place that I could live without being bothered by the rest of the world unless I chose to subject myself to it.

From what I understand it can be bought, but it takes a whole lot more money than I'll ever see.

What I would give to just live in the mountains away from society never to return. Unfortunately my survival skills are lacking and I wouldn't make the first winter.

That is really what I want! I'm just hoping I can settle for something short term to hold me over, until I figure out how to come up with enough cash for such an endevour.

Same, but i'm workin' on 'em!

Yes, been there, done that. I moved from California to West Virginia a little over 3 years ago. I loved my job but certain "conditions" in the office left a horrible taste in my mouth and I could no longer tolerate the crap. So, I found another position within my agency and moved lock, stock and barrell to WV. It was both the worst move (financially) and the best move (sanity, salary, and peace of mind) that I've ever made. Ironically, a few months ago my old boss called me out of the blue and hinted that I could have my old job back and all I had to do was ask. Not a chance in hell... and I had the pleasure of telling her (politely, I might add).

I used to think, when people said money isn't everything, that i could cope, just to make lots of money.. Even though ive yet to make it into the real workforce, I'm slowly beginning to realize that poor and happy is greater than rich and unhappy.

(still haven't totally given up hope for a rich and happy situation though :tongueout:)

watch into the wild before you go. The main character figures out what he was trying to find all along at the end.

I get the exact same feeling often. It would be nice even to maybe meet up with a few if y'all and take some big Alaska trip or similar.

I already lost one house to forlclosure (had 2) and I may be laid off due to my states horrible budget issues. Its stressful thiking about how all this will effect my wife and baby boy. Our only safety net (at this time) is that my in-laws have an empty nest 3 bedroom house in Hawaii with an open invitation to live rent free if SHTF?

I would rather live in the mainland in the Tahoe/Sierra Nevada mountain area but there is no work there for me. Right now the big city is the only place for work.

Go to the Grand Canyon. I think every American should do that once.

Heck yea! Get a half dozen guys with axes and we'll build a nice lodge!

I need to make friends with someone who has a 10mm... :whistling:

what are you doing here?!? get to the island!

Sounds like a fun gig! If i was any good at skiing/first aid/what ever else you fellas do, i might think about it. Especially with all the global warming we have been getting!

Id like to see it, but that is also part of the reason I haven't ever really pursued a trip like that. I want to see stuff nobody else has before! not something they say, "oh yea, I went there with grandma and grandpa last year".
