what does direct draw error mean when running a new game? Does this have to do with the video card?
sort of. Direct Draw is a part of Direct X, a Microsoft program that many games (and other multimedia programs) rely on for graphics.
Is your DirectX version up to date? http://www.microsoft.com/directx.
If so, go to Start>Run, and type "dxdiag". Run through all of the diagnostics on each tab, especially the video ones.
It is probably telling you that you need a newer version of DX9.0, probably the 'c' iteration.
It is probably on one of the game disks...just Explore the CD to look for it and run it once you do.
