    Eric,

I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this, but since the black banner arrived up top, GT has been running very slowly.

I am using an old computer:
    2004 Mac iBookG4

I agree!! It seems to take a lot longer to load pages, and the black bar is the last thing to load.

You are not the only one who noticed that. My computer is much newer and I have the same results.

I'm having the same troubles, but I don't think it's due to "GT running slow". I believe it's due to the new applet running at the top of the page. It takes longer to load than do the just "normal" pages. And I have a dedicated line running at the best speed I can get from AT&T.

I have to wait a few more seconds to bring up the page or scroll down it than I used to. Some may find it better, it's just my opinion that I liked it better the old way.

Can't please everyone I suppose. It is sort of aggravating but I guess I can learn to live with it.

I dont notice any porblems with our inspiron laptop, desktop or my iphone. how ever when i try using my little acer one it is CRAZY slow, all with the same wireless roadrunner cable connection. it is even slow when trying to scroll down the page, takes a sec for the page to "react". i figured it was the little computer...

ETA: i didnt even notice the black scroll bar at the top, till it was descused here...

So 99.999% of the entire internet works fine, and GT suffers a severe and predictable slowdown which directly coincides with the arrival of the black banner, and the black banner is noticeably the very last item to load, and you decree that people need to upgrade their internet and their computers?

Do you work for Comcast or Dell?

I haven't noticed any difference, even with my cruddy Windows Vista PC.

It's somewhat likely that your Internet Provider is throttling your connection. There was a big court battle over whether Providers could "throttle", or slow, users' connection speeds for various reasons. It ended up that the Providers won and can throttle your connection as much as they like.
