We will have to see how much they fine themselves.

I hope the States involved will file criminal charges against a few dozen of these idiots.

That is breathtakingly beautiful country. This is sickening. I hope no one is harmed from this. I don't guess the fishing will be good for sometime.

I wonder if the EPA said they're sorry. Then all will be forgotten. I guess the EPA can't be fined when things go badly while they're in charge.

Perhaps the EPA will issue a massive fine and make the evil, planet killing perpetrators clean up the mess......what? wait, nevermind....

What I'm waiting to hear is will they be able to stop the leakage, and how will they clean up the mess.

The area these rivers flow thought is one of the most beautiful places in the Rockies and Northern New Mexico. I guess there will be no fishing this year.

I would think the states affected will be suing the EPA and I hope they prosecute the dim-witted that caused this.

I can't wait for someone with a microphone or printing press to call out EPA, and tell them that they cannot demand that a private company do any more in response to an emergency than EPA is doing in this case.

This breaks my heart and pisses me off to no end. I've been out there, and it was some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. To see it destroyed... I'm at a loss for words.

The photos of the river are terrible.

Somebody would be in jail had this been a private sector disaster.

    Where's the accountability?

Heavy metals in miles of tough tp access silty riverbead? The answers might be to leave it alone. Prevent stirring it up. That means no people access, with their feet and paddles and boat bottoms kicking up silt.

That river is gonna be hosed for a bit.
Wonder if EPA is gonna transfer clean up costs to originators or the mine?

I concur. Have to see what the geologists and hydrologists have to say...but I'll bet that's what will happen. Some of those areas are extremely remote. Bringing in heavy machinery to clean up could do more damage than the spill itself.

The leader of the Navajo nation near there has already stated that they will sue.

The locals are now calling it the Environmental Pollution Agency.

I guess things got slow for them and had to generate a good crisis. Frankly I'm amazed they haven't done something similar before.
