    Hi all,

I just scavanged a hard drive out of a dead laptop and turned it into and external HDD.

I am now looking at a way of password/passphrase locking or encrypting the drive. Am looking for something easy to use but with good encryption.

I am running Windows XP Home with SP2.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks and Semper Fi

Create an unformatted partition on the drive (as large as you want), download and install TrueCrypt and use it to encrypt the entire partition.

It's easy, free, secure, free, allows plausible deniability (RTM), and did I mention it's free?
