I posted this originally on Blade Forum and they suggested I post it here. I have collected bone handled antique knives for years and have never dealt with combat knives. Below is photos of a knife I picked up at a yard sale. I havechecked the web site for the differences between real and fake and this APPEARS to be real. The box sure appears to be real. The other forum told me to look for double detents and I cannot see any on this knife. However that does not mean they are not there, I just cannot see them. On the other forum I am getting about 80% that think it is an early real knife. Any help from you experts would be helpful as I do not have a working knowledge on combat knives. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

    Dear 30-30remchester,

You have an original Emerson SPECWAR knife. In fact, I believe it to be a hand ground blade, possibly a prototype. It is indeed a collector piece - now.

    Best Regards,

Mr. Emerson, Please forgive me for my ignorance but feel I must ask this question after reading your bio. Are you the same Emerson that built these knives?
