I apologize if this has been posted before. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to pass it along.

I wanted a Triple Lock Smith and Wesson for many years due to articles by Elmer Keith and other writers about how nice the old Triple Locks were. For some reason I was never been able to put together a deal on one that I could afford. I never did get a TL, but I did pick up a used 4" S&W Model 29 no-dash back around 1980 and used it as my main hiking and hunting companion since then. I still want a TL, but I haven't stumbled on one that I am willing to shell out the money for.

Meanwhile, 41 years later, I still have that old four screw M29. Somehow I managed to hang onto it through two divorces and other assorted turbulence in my life.

Don't know if it sold yet or not, but coincidentally Keith's 38/44 Outdoorsman S&W, the exact handgun used in the development of the 357 Magnum in the 1930s, was recently for sale on Gunbroker. Came with a lot of documentation and factory letter.

Price IIRC, was a cool $25k.
