yeah for the money ($20 at WM), it's pretty good.
An even cheaper one that aint half bad - Old Granddad.
yeah, I know. rotgut. whatever.
I am not against anything that makes you/me feel good.
As long as I feel good in the morning.
That has been my go-to for years... I will take it over Knob Creek.
Kind of wild how the price has gone up considerably over the last 5 years.
Yeah Elijah is good, never tried grand dad but Evan Williams is ~$16/1.5L and quite good also.
While we're on the subject, has anyone else noticed Jim Beam pushing 'white label' more than their standard whiskey recently? I don't even bother with Jim Beam, but the last time few times I've been to Sam's I noticed they had tons of white label and only a little regular Beam, and the price on that had jumped about 5 bucks (and it wasn't worth it before). I'm guessing that lake on fire thing messed up the rotation.
Old Granddad's a little heavy on the rye, which is why I like it for my nobody's lookin' whiskey. It's not on level with Bulleit Rye, but you shouldn't expect it to be for roughly half the price.
Found this bottle at Costco. $18.
Buzz is wearing off.
Maybe I can sleep now.
I have blood work at 9:30am.
Long day tomorrow.
I've posted about Elijah on here before,it's a nice whiskey at a good price.'08.
Yeah Jim, always a good idea to get a little loaded the night before blood work. Make sure to eat some chocolate donuts for breakfast while you're at it. lol
For the money, you really owe it to yourself to try Evan Williams 1783. It's under $20 a fifth and very smooth for the price. Try it, guarantee you'll like it.
For cheap Bourbon, Evan Williams is surprisingly OK. It has a little more burn going down that the more expensive ones, but that can be a good thing.
They said no drinking or eating 8hrs prior.
I was nice and gave them 12hrs.
I'm a prince.
Wellers Reserve is my go to cheap bourbon
Jim Beam is my go-to usually, but this was priced right and right in front of me.
I like it.
Hope your blood works comes out okay today.
I used to really like the 18yr old Elijah, until it seems increasingly more 20-30 somethings discovered good bourbon and started buying it. Now the prices have climbed and it's getting both harder to find, and more expensive.
Fortunately, there's a lot of really good Bourbon's and American whiskies to be found.
Elijah Craig = my great great...great grandfather
Blood work prelim seems fine.
My EC indulgence did no harm.
Going to have another tonight. (but not 4, like last night)
That's because the damned yuppies have discovered that bourbon beats the shat out of Scotch and have created a shortage, and because it takes YEARS to bring more to the market it ain't gettin' any better soon.
Getting hard to find but WL Weller Antique is my go to, the Family Reserve is the exact same whiskey but more water added.
I just wish I could find Old Weller Antique 107 somewhere but no luck.
I have an untouched bottle of it in my cabinet right now. Single barrel select made for The Party Source in Bellevue, KY
