Sticker shows $397 on the Axis and $997 on the Bushmaster

Can the Axis safely shoot 5.56mm? If so I'd say sure on that one. A bolt action as a compliment to an AR for that price, hard to go wrong.

Im not sure it can. I think i saw the barrel was stamped Rem .223

Funny, I was just talking with a friend today about lower priced rifles and one of the ones he said I should stay away from is the Savage Axis. He is very fond of the other Savages though, he owns damn near all of the lower end rifles which is a little strange to me.
