I know with certain Glocks if you replace the slide/barrel/mag you can turn them into different calibers. Can the same be done with a USP?

    Thanks!

I believe there are only two manufacturers make the conversion barrel. Barsto and EFK. Barsto will need gunsmith fit in and I hear too many bad reviews on EFK to give them a try.

Also, with Glock, there is no need to change slide. Just a conversion barrel and mag will do th trick.

The USP 9mm and USP .40 share the same frame. You will need a 9mm slide (complete, with extractor), 9mm barrel, and 9mm magazines.

However, where you will find all these parts, I haven't a clue. HK doesn't sell single slides as parts in the USA. In addition, the cost would make the conversion not worth the trouble compared to just buying a 9mm pistol. :)

From a .40 to a 9mm? I'm not sure it can even be done from a .45 to a 10mm...or the other way around...

I thought you needed more than just a barrel and also different mags...:dunno:

    Thanks!

    I was afraid of that.:faint:

I just want a <$500 9mm USP with an external hammer that is SA/DA...is that so much to ask?!?!

Look around. Now that the new models are all the rage, you can find older date coded USP's used for around that price. :)

    Yes I meant for 40 - 9. I haven't really look into 45 - 10mm so I'm not sure about them.
The conversion allow you to not have to swap entire slide. EFK is selling them for $154. I thought about it for my USP 40 but I had too much fun shoot it in 40, I never get around to try it out. Personally I think USP platform really shine in 40s&w, so i don't think I missed out much.

Ps yes I edited my first post. You do need the right mag.

If that's what you want, check out the FNP or Sig 2022. They are both outstanding DA/SA 9mm platform.

Yeah I just looked and LWD has the conversions for $110...although I'd try to find one used for cheaper.

I just might pick up one of the cheap 3rd gen. G22's for around $350 and then get a conversion barrel for it. Even with the barrel I'd still be well under $500 and have two calibers in one gun!

    Thanks!

    Yeah that's what I was looking ;)

I just am not a fan of the .40....too expensive to shoot, plus I have over a dozen 9mm's so plenty of mags and ammo.

    Thanks!
