So, just got back from visiting my wife's family in Brazil. Every time you think you have heard it all...

Their condo bldg is one block from the local fire station. Firefighters in Brazil are Federal employees and part of the military, complete with snazzy uniforms. Anyhow, last year the bdlg manager found smoke pouring out of one of the apartments in the building and called the FD.

The dispatcher asked him, "Do you see flames?". When he replied, "No, only heavy smoke." they told him to call back when he saw flames and hung up on him! For a 12 story condo bldg! ;T ^9

I'm guessing not a "proactive" fire dept.?

Wow, I know we sometimes complain about the SOG's/SOP's of our agencies, work conditions, etc. But wow! And I mean wow.

Maybe they need more parking lots down there.
