So i just recently received back my Daniel Defense MK18 from a barrel swap at the mother ship. It worked perfectly before the swap, but I had some overgassing with my suppressor on it. I now have the newer barrel with the considerably smaller gas port. It still runs like a sewing machine. Also swapped out my optic mount and weapon light after I got it back and sighted it in. The can in question is a Deadair Sandman S.

I actually maintain and zero all of the department issued pool rifles at my station. I just refuse to carry those because I see how guys treat them.

What does everybody else carry as a personal duty rifle, if in fact you carry one?

Great choice. Colt makes great guns and the last rifle I carried was a 6920.

I use the Daniel Defense V9. She’s a bit of a pig, I think I’m going to swap out the rail to save a little weight.

Waiting on a policy change and I’m going to put my SIONICS rifle into service. We currently can’t use a LPVO on patrol. Rumour is that’s going to change.

My next purchase is going to be a Bravo Company RECCE w/MLOK and that’s going to be my patrol rifle.

Extra long answer to a short question. You’re welcome

Although historically the USMS used to issue them; what agency issues the M1 Garand rifle?

I carried a Ruger SR-556 when I was working. If I was working now, I would get something lighter and more of a basic M-4 style so I wouldn’t mind as much it getting banged around, scratched, etc.

One of my last major calls was a standoff with a guy who had killed his dad. We were out there FOREVER, hiding, crawling, sprinting, jogging, standing still for long periods, and that rifle of mine grew mighty heavy. Also, since it was mine, I found that I wasn’t able to stop worrying about keeping it pristine.

I’ve been on one of those calls. Which is why I bought a pencil barrel Colt 6720. It’s the ideal patrol rifle in my mind. Basic. And light. Perfect.

After turning in my DRMO M-16A2, I went with a Colt 6920 with a KAC RAS and Crane SOPMOD stock.

You truly don't grasp the significance of ounces until you've had to hold up a long gun for hours on end. My duty rifle is a Colt 6920 with a 12in Troy TRX rail but I really want to lighten it up some more. I'm definitely jealous of you guys who get to carry SBR's with cans. We have had a lot of wins on the firearms side recently getting approved for more brands of rifles, magnified optics and pistol RDS's but SBR's and candidate have been a no go.

We are allowed to use a personally owned rifle for patrol work. However, only one specific brand/model is permitted. The Colt I have is not it...ugh.

My rifle is a BCM Jack Carbine with a Trijicon MRO and a Ferro Concepts Slingster. My favorite setup yet after toying with a few different ones.

Those Colt rifles you’re referring to are made about an hour from me in Kitchener ON.

Colt 6920. Cheap single point sling. Streamlight Protac railmount light IWC handguard mount. . Carry handle iron sights. 20rd mag. Very simple setup.

Issued Uncle Sam M16A1. Cheap sling with a buttstock adapter and flash bang pull pin ring to make it sling correctly. Elzetta flashlight mount with a Surefire 6P. 20rd mag. Very simple setup.

Colt 6960 pencil barrel midlength. Eotech. Magpul flip up BUIS. Streamlight Protac rail mount with pressure switch. 30rd mag. VTAC sling using the factory QD points. That’s my fancy rifle.

I carry one or the other depending on how I feel that week. The two colts are my personally owned rifles

Over the years I have come to appreciate how quickly the simpler iron sight guns can get into action. The Eotech equipped rifle take a minute to get it ready. Remove the optic cover. Turn on sight. Adjust brightness for the light conditions.

They get heavy in a hurry. There is a big convenience factor being able to resecure a handgun in your holster. Also gives you better options when the threat turns into a non deadly force situation.

The Collim1 Agency of Super Cool Dudes would issue Garands.

Those and the 6520 are getting difficult to find. And when you do the price is sky high.
