My father-in-law delivers oxygen to old folks all over the area and yesterday we were driving by one of his customer's homes in a nice area and he remarked that the guy had an old blue porsche sitting in the garage.

He remarked that it was old and dusty but seemed to be in good condition but was ugly.

The old guy that owns it said he was just going to donate it to charity to get rid of it. I have instructed my father-in-law to tell the old man that I would be interested in buying it and I can't wait to see what an "old ugly blue Porsche" looks like...

    Hopefully this:

Vart -- good luck, dude! I've considered buying an OLD one before. Forget the model, but they kinda looked like Fieros...

I decided since I can barely change the oil in a car, it would not be such a good idea. :)

As long as it's not a 912, you'll be fine.

I was thinking 914 too based on the description of "good condition but was ugly." I can only think of 914 as being ugly.. I mean, I don't think so myself, but I can think of others thinking it is....

914 wouldn't be too bad. It's a nice play thing and it's cute. I hardly see them around now.

If the guy was going to give it away for free, and "Old Porsche" in a garage is a win-win, anyway you look at it.

914 may not be the prettiest Porsche, but they are fun to throw around!

That's a 914. They didn't even call them Porsche's in Europe. They were a Volkswagen model.

Since the guy is going to donate the Porsche, make him an offer. Even if it is ugly, it's a PORSCHE! Sell it and buy the Porsche you want.

A 914 or 914-6 set up right is a great track car and you can still keep them legal for the street. A 912 is a bit anemic but still a fun drive.

Just remember Porsche also designed trucks, tractors, generators, the VW bug and the Tiger II main battle tank so who knows what you will find.

    Ferdinand Porsche designed the Volkswagon.
    His son, Ferry, designed Porsches.

I enjoyed my 914s ... except when the clutch cable broke. :scared:

    Or a 924.

The 944 was a good looking car.

Although the FIL said it was UGLY so that means it's probably a 914.
