Drop in trigger set, which do I use?
I say trigger set, but I guess I mean hammer, sear and maybe trigger. I have a Taurus PT1911. That sucks for me I know. The gun is super reliable but i cant stand the trigger pull. Everyone who feels it says it is what its supposed to be. for me its too heavy and it seems too inconsistant from pull to pull.
So anyway I'm about to give up on the 1911 platform as a whole because I have shot way more rounds through this gun than any other and have much better trigger control with other type triggers.
If I replace the MIM junk sear and hammer and possibly trigger in this gun, what do I replace it with? Will it solve my problem?
My problem is not lack of practice or technique, I am about 3000 rounds and lots of studying into this and still don't feel right about it.

Nice gun, is 10-8 the part number? What is the pull weight? Better than stock?

i have the proper tools now, and can get stock parts working pretty well now.

I put a C&S 4.5lb Matched Trigger Pull Set in my Springer Mil Spec. Unbelievable difference. Worth every penny.
Since you have come to grips that the Taurus is a POS then why try & spit polish a turd? Sell the gun & use the money to get a better 1911 because when you sell the POS Taurus the buyer won´t give a damn if it is has beryllium, silver sputtered internals. It´s still a Taurus. :wavey:
It may "drop in" but may not work and may have to be fitted.

Honestly I have very few complaints with this gun as a whole. It is accurate and reliable. The finish is crap and the metal quality is crap.
Guess what, the resale value, also crap.
I think I am over 1911's for a while. My buddy got a GI Expert, it was a lemon. I thought it would be a good exposure to a higher quality breed.
Until I can afford a quality 1911, I will hold off.
I am going to trade it for a glock here in a minute. It will keep my other two company and I will get my money's worth.
There is a lot to be said for investing your money in something of a good brand name that is good quality. I always look at guns as investments. To get a great deal on an off brand gun really screws you in the end.
Someday maybe I can find that Dan Wesson 10mm Bobtail Commander, or and Ed Brown or Wilson Combat when I really get rich
Just keep it as it is and shoot the snot out of it. Forget every bodies opinion of the gun. If it works, it is a good gun.

Drop in a C&S sear spring first to see what it does. It might be a cheap fix.
You should also Stone [flat] the trigger bow and disconnector mating surfaces to remove any high spots and/or burrs.
