    Hi all,

Sorry if this has been discussed previously.

I'm considering a drop in conversion barrel for my Gen4 G27
    to shoot 9mm.

Are any of the the commonly available ones from LWD, Storm lake etc reliable enough for carry?

    Thanks in advance!

    Michael-

I carry KKM barrels in my 10mm guns, never a single malfunction. I have had feeding issues with LWD barrels in .45 caliber.

No experience with .40-9mm conversion barrels, but I assume a well made barrel company translates reliability between calibers.

I had a LWD 40-9 for my 31, and it dropped right in and worked fine.

I currently have one of their threaded barrels for one of my 17's, and its been fine as well.

I have an LWD 40-9 conversion barrel I picked up for my G27 and G33, and it works just fine.

Like whitebread posted, I run KKM in my G20SF, with no problems at all. I went with that barrel mainly for improved chamber support, since I reload ammo and the brass is not in as bad of a condition after firing through the KKM vs. the Glock stock barrel.

The bonus with the aftermarket barrel with traditional rifling is that you can shoot lead rounds through it, which are not recommended by Glock in their barrels. However, some folks have had excellent results shooting through their stock setup...go figure.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm debating whether to replace
the G26 I recently sold or get a conversion barrel and some mags
for the G27 for my "feeling 9mm-ish" carry days.

Main concern is reliability as opposed to accuracy beyond combat
    accuracy.

If 9mm function in a G27 with a conversion barrel is reliable enough
I may just go that route. I guess it wouldn't be all that costly
to just buy one and try it out.

I've got G27 and G23 Storm Lake 40-9mm conversion barrels for my G27.
    1000+ HP rounds 100% reliable.
And that's with the 40 extractor ejector.

Did your Storm Lake require any fitting?

    Thanks!

I prefer OEM barrels over LWD. Even if they cost more.

My 40-9 barrel in my G22 works fine, however, I don't use it for carry. It's just for range use. Never had any malfunction, though.

    Have a 9mm and a .357 Sig LW for my G27.

Zero problems from first shot. Only use recommended mags.

An oem 9mm barrel is not safe to use in a .40 Glock. You must use a conversion barrel, as the oem 9mm and .40 barrels have a different outside diameter.

I have a LWD threaded 40-9 barrel for my G23s to run them suppressed: thousands of rounds with 0 failures.

Another good result from LWD 40-9 for my 23. I have been really happy with it.

I wouldn't trust that carry combo because of the different ejector, extractor, and different size breechface.

I run KKM and no failure. Love the tight fit with the MGSL and it produces a nice tight consistent lockup with excellent grouping from a G19 out to 25 yards. Definitely an improver.

From what I have read and been told alot of people use aftermarket barrels with no issues and a small percentage report issues. But fewer people report issues with the correct OEM Glock barrel in the gun.

Four Storm Lake barrels for my G27 and none required fitting.
    All have been 100% reliable.
    G27 40-9mm 3.46"
    G23 40-9mm 4.02"
    G23 40 4.02"
G27 357 Sig 4.16" dual ported black Isonite QPQ
Although I understand minor fitting is a possibility.

KKM have never had a FTF FTE with the 6 I have owned. 100 % reliable but so have my OEMs. KKM have better support and no Glock bellies
