Guess what happens, and always has happened, in conventional warfare?

And the claims of PTSD from drone operators begin.

Life sucks when your daddy is a badguy. Sometimes that's just the way it is.

Say what? Innocent kid being killed as collateral damage is ok, but I can't get my gun and whack the guy who I just saw turn my two kids into road chow?

Afghanistan isn't a conventional war...the opposition isn't "well defined", or an "army"...and the only thing modern about their weaponry is that they aren't shooting muskets.

The only thing conventional, is our conventional weapons obliterating a 3rd world country....while our higher-ups preach Counter Insurgency (win the hearts and minds).

    No kiddin?

    Well, now it's significantly easier.

Now we can paint the planet with collateral damage without even leaving our homes by the push of a button.

No, really, hang in there. You'll get this. I promise.

Now, we save MILLIONS of dollars on gas for air and land transports, maintenance of said vehicles, food and gear for those involved.....and while we're at it, we save gads of time by not having to physically 'GO' anywhere.

Hold on, there's more. Not only can we reach out and touch innocent people in every far corner of the globe, but we can employ just one command center in every state in the union commanding 'one' drone for each state, at a minimum, and we can blanket the entire planet with collateral damage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Now, come on, you 'know' that's impressive.

As for the killing innocents part, it sucks, but it seems like these people like to set up shop in places that are usually considered off limits. Not to mention hide in areas that might also be considered off limits. I guess in an attempt to build sympathy when they do get struck back.

I suppose when these guys figure out their home is now a target, they might start to have second thoughts.

Innocent people of all ages get killed in all conflicts. What is the point tring to be made ? Yes it would be great if it never happened...it does and will continue.

How many innocent children died on 9/11/01?

There are always two sides to a war; an aggressor, and a defender.

In this war, they are the aggressor and we are the defender.

It is the agressor who decides whether or not both parties are in a state of war. The defender does not have a choice, other than submit or die.

My vote is that we do not submit, and they die.

If they did not care about "collateral damage" and the death of innocents, on 9/11/01, why should we care now?

If they want us to stop killing them, all they have to do is stop trying to kill us!

Sorry I am confused. All the previous wars and conflicts that we could not win by using just air power we now can win with just air power because the pilot is no longer in the airplane?

    Exactly.

    What is the point, indeed?

Funny thing is: Half of you truly don't get it. The other half 'do' clearly get it, yet, for various reasons, are compelled to deny seeing any significance in the topic whatsoever.

So, for those who truly don't get it, I'll gently nudge you in the direction of clarity a bit more.

Of course CD is a consequence of any and all wars in history. Of course the narrow focus on CD is a bland topic.

The point, here, is that never before has it been half as easy as it is now to kill innocent people in warfare--even if it 'is' entirely unintentional.

Therefore, the amount of innocents being killed on a daily basis in these operations is, quite logically, higher than it has ever been before in the history of the world.

Anything happenin up there, yet? We can do this in steps. Simplify it down to the ridiculous.

"You cannot qualify war in harsher terms than I will. War is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; and those who brought war into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people can pour out. I know I had no hand in making this war, and I know I will make more sacrifices to-day than any of you to secure peace."

    General William Tecumseh Sherman
to the Mayor and Councilmen of Atlanta

    :dunno:

The actual text of the paraphrased saying attributed to Sherman, "War is Hell".

So drones can cause more death than can nuclear devices?
