"Dow’s Latest 1K-Point Advance Ties Record, Trump Policy Priorities Fuel Rally

By Victoria Craig Published March 01, 2017 Markets FOXBusiness

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded and closed above the 21000 milestone Wednesday for the first time ever in what was one of the fastest 1,000-point advances in the blue-chip index’s history.

Optimism on Wall Street came from President Donald Trump’s first address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night in which he outlined the ways in which he hoped to “make America great again.” His policy priorities included repealing the Affordable Care Act – a cornerstone of President Barack Obama’s administration, revamping the U.S. tax code, improving trade policies, and requesting Congress approve $1 trillion for infrastructure spending.

Stock market advances like this usually don't end well.
No matter who the president is.

Not only an expert on religion but now a stock market expert who is now forecasting doom to the stock market. A regular Nostradamus in out midst.

We'll see. There was a lot of pessimism with the Obama economy.

Yes there was, but we are talking about the DJIA, correct? The Dow set records every year under Obama. It doesn't necessarily mean anything. Obama was no friend to business.

Trump should be good for the economy if he cuts taxes, deregulates and invests in infrastructure. I believe he will do all of those things.

I hope in his second term he will address the debt by modifying social security and Medicare.

This is a fact. I retired two years ago at age 49. The best years for stocks were under Clinton. At least for me. It was unreal. I just don't think the sitting president means as much as some people think. At least not over a long period. I certainly don't give credit to Obama for my any good fortunes in the market but it was a good period.

The markets are generally considered forward looking. If they start to drop, worry.

This rally is built on speculation Trump will do something to slash taxes. If the Republicans can't get their act together and pass significant tax reform that reduces the corporate tax rate, the market will sink. Seeing that congress can't seem to do anything, I'd say it's highly likely the market will drop significantly in a few months.
