I'm starting to see these around the Great State.....if I was a Judge, I sure as hell wouldn't want my vehicle letting everyone (former customers) know that I was...:dunno:

They have issued them for a long time. They just looked like the old style plate. Now they look like the exempt plate and stand out like a turd in a punch bowl.

Been issuing Judiciary plates to Judges and FOP plates to police forever. Never an issue with either, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere near one in some cities (in other states) that I've been to.

Just to add, I am not sure who gets them. I know that our County Court at Law judge had them but our District Judge refused to have them on his car.

I saw some kids smoking pot and drinking beer while giving a hard time to the elderly couple next to them at the stoplight. When the couple pulled forward, I saw the license tag..."state judge".

Did you stop giving the judge a hard time and hide the pot when you realized?

It is about the only plate we don't have.

To some, in their mind, it's a get out of a ticket card.

I arrested a girl for DUI out of a Lexus SUV bearing such plates. She gave me the, "Do you know who my daddy is" routine. Being two states away from Texas, I told her it didn't matter at the moment.

Hooked her up and took her to jail. Shortly after, I got off work at 0600.

I came in the next night at 1800 and was told I had a visitor in the lobby. As I walked up there, I saw a familiar face with an unfamiliar one by her side. Seems she called daddy from the jail. He hopped in his car and drove over to the university to pick her up.

Before he left town, he wanted to stop by and personally apologize to me for his daughter's actions. He then assured me nothing like this would happen again because he was withdrawing her from the university as of RIGHT NOW. He had her stuff packed up and the were off to Texas.

She plead guilty and never came back to town.

That has to be one of the dumbest ideas I can imagine. Why dont I put a bumper sticker on my car saying "former Federal Agent at the wheel"?

    Was she cute?:needspics:

Good on the dad. Seems like he knows what's up.

We don't have judge plates, but we have hose dragger plates. Judges can get their plate "confidential'ed" like cops and DA's so when it's run in CLETS, it would notify us of what it is.

All depends upon your locale. It's a non issue in my area. Many police run FOP plates on their POV's (not so much on the wives cars) and most Judges run judicial plates here. Never a problem with either, but pretty much every off duty cop and most judges around here are going to be armed here too..... I've worked in other parts of the country where LE has almost a leper status among the turds of the population. I wouldn't wish to use either plate there.

Lumberg would be entirely correct. It's dependent upon locale. My uncle ran judicial plates for his entire 3 decades on the bench, and I've run FOP plates for almost 10 years on my personal vehicles, and not one solitary negative thing happened to either of us (at least related to our choice of license plates). The wives cars get plain tags. Of course there are places where even a marked cruiser isn't safe. I'm just lucky enough not to live or work in one of those places.

TN has judiciary plates, unsure of the criteria to get them.
