Watching TV with the Missus just now, I came across an episode of "The Biggest Loser" reality show that had all of the weight loss contestants at the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. I'm sorry, but filming a reality TV show at a site like that strikes me as VERY offensive, almost like using the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as a setting for filming an episode of "Repo Man".

Is there no level that these shows won't stoop to?

Maybe, but it strikes me as more than a bit morbid to be filming a weight loss reality show literally on top of hundreds of fallen US sailors.

It is a little strange, but not offensive. To me at least.

I'm with the OP. Not every thing is appropriate to every place, and one has to be especially careful at memorials for the dead.

It wouldn't really bother me if it were just about any other national monument, but the USS Arizona Memorial is tomb. I think it deserves a bit more respect than to be used as a reality TV show stage.

    My 2 cents...

As a currently active military cemetery, the USS Arizona is the final resting place of 900 of her crew. No different than if they were filming at Arlington National Cemetery.

Is it offensive? Who's to say - the .gov gave permission to use the site, so they must've been okay with it. I don't agree with that decision personally, though.

I solved these sorts of problems when I stopped watching television. I cannot imagine what posesses decent people to support the industry that is doing the most to destroy American culture.

True. They were obviously granted a permit to film there. I don't agree with the decision, either, though.

What were they DOING at the memorial? Were they jazzercizing, or were they there in some solemn fashion?

What's different about this than a documentary? Yes, the shows are different, but the intended result is the same - get people to watch so the network makes money.

And lastly, what do you think those entombed there would say if you asked them what they died for?
