Today I held a Glock which has been tucked away for a few months since I bought it new. I then compared it to my G19 on my hip. I noticed that the newer Glock felt much more "textured" than the 5+ year old one that I use a lot.

I'm just curious if the texturing ever wears down?

I would be surprised if it didn't. It's plastic, and plastic wears down, much faster than metal.

Our issue guns are from 2001 and they're a lot smoother than the 5/09 Model 23 I just de-horned.

There's been a change, or Glock just ran out some new molds.

You could stipple them or apply grip tape.

And I am not a stippler! However, a search on stipple/stippling should turn up someone who is. GT member Bowtie did an excellent job of stipping his G30 and has, I recall, provided some information in other threads.
Commercial outfits will do it for a fee.

Yeah I'll have to look into that. I mean I'll never pay to have something done to my Glock except for maybe a coating on the slide. But I'd like to learn how to roughen the texturing up on the backstrap and front of the grip.
