OK, so some may say using "style" and "Glock" in the same sentence is heresy...

Many consider them "Functionally Attractive" and others "Butt Ugly", others "who cares as long as it's works"

    Where do fall?

Me, I'm in the, it's not particularly attractive, but works.
Reminds me of.... A good Robin Williams & Robert DeNero Movie, Awakenings....

Function over form every time. A 1911 (without the ugly ass rail) is a thing of beauty, a Glock is like having a really good framing hammer in your tool-box.

I like the look of a Glock. What's ugly is a high point.

Neither of them is pretty but they both get the job done.

Yeah, Butt Ugly. (even though I have 5)

Like my friend (who gave me a G17 and G26 and owns several more) says,
"Holding and shooting a Glock, is like shooting a Brick".

I have to agree. The bulky shape and rough texture tends to be hard on my skin.

I did reduce the G33's wearing on my skin by reducing and smoothing the trigger guard a bit.

Functional with clean simple lines and always performs well, just like my high school girlfriend.

I'm not sure that "butt ugly" and "function over form" are mutually exclusive.

“Purty is as purty does “

They aren’t polished blue and rosewood nor color case hardened and ivory, but I do find them appealing in a utilitarian way.

Rub your hand over the slide and down the sides and you don’t feel sharp edges. I do wish M2 Carbine’s mod came standard, even though I haven’t done it.

Depends on the model and generation.

The G17 sized guns are ugly, especially without finger grooves.

A gen 3 or, even more so, a gen 4 G19 looks pretty good.

Front slide serrations make any given model look worse.

A rounded nose in the slide looks better than a blocky, squared muzzle.

A Gen 4 G19 with a melted front end and no extra should serrations would be the best looking Glock.

Functionally, however, I don't prefer finger grooves, even though I think they have better visual aesthetics.

Obviously, this thread invites opinions. YMMV.

The only thing I wish Glock did different is I do wish they came from the factory undercut. I hate risking messing with the warranty to do this myself but don't like them with out it either.

I wouldn't say they are butt ugly like a hi point, but they are not thing of beauty, either. They simply work and work well. Also, they are the only thing allowed in GSSF, so that's a big deal for me and the primary reason I own them.

The competition models definitely are not ugly but they do not have the beauty of a nice 1911 or P220. The long slide Glocks look a little off kilter and the baby Glocks may have a bit of 'only a mother would love'. The G17/22/31 look like any 'ol normal gun, to me.

I like form follows function design, and that's definitely what the Glock has. I've picked up guns that were given some aesthetic upgrades that has no relation to performance, and immediately thought "this gun is too pretty to shoot". That wasn't meant as a complement. I have no use for collectible safe queens.

That being said. Even in the poly striker world, where form generally does follow function, Glock comes of cruder looking than a lot of others.

to me, i liken the look of a Glock, like i liked the look of all my past mechanic tools.

function over beauty. i got the usual chrome moly (??) coated tools. occasionally, i got the black coated tools (impact tools)

it all broke down to, "what do i want to do with those tools"?

store them in a glass case and show off to the customers that i have expensive tools, or keep them in a tool box, and work with them.

when i got my first CZ gun, i could have bought the stainless steel, very pretty...or the matte steel, good looking...

but as i had said to the store salesman, "i ain't going to the range, to impress anyone".

he said, "i get you, keep it simple"..

"yuuup" is what i had said.

in the end, i will admit, when i watch an old western, and the nickle plated(??) Colts, with a white pearl handle.......i drool........exquisite looking guns, that to me....belong in a case to show....not to use.

about the only guns (to me) that will ever have ANY style.....

As a former carpenter, this hit home with me. I'll forever think of the GLOCK this way. Lol!
