I imagine the security protecting the Colonel's fried chicken and Coca-Cola's recipes would embarrass Fort Knox. Even if you own just a small restaurant, you'd want to protect your recipes.

But if you don't make a living in the food industry, would you share your recipes for which you are famous (well, famous in your family or podunk little town)?

I've abandoned all sports. The mind wanders.

Nope, once they get done puking or stuffing their sphincter back up where it belongs, never had anybody ask a question except directions to the closest hospital.

    I don’t see why I wouldn’t share?

Why not share with everyone? They may see your generosity and become someone you might like.

    Plus, nothing to lose.

To make homemade chili really “pop” add some fresh lime juice.

It's no secret. I just use the essence of pure flavor.

I don’t keep recipes secret. I won’t give many of them out ether. Most of mine can be found in books. I won’t violate copyright. They can go buy the book themselves.

Where people have gotten pissed with me is when I give them the recipe or they find it themselves but won’t use the correct technique or they change the ingredients Then get mad because it didn’t work out right.

I've been to fort Knox. I doubt coca cola could afford that level of security. And I question whether it's needed even at fort Knox.

So "I thought about it, and I thought about it, AND I thought about it... " -- only to realize that I don't really HAVE any special or family recipes to either share OR hold dear and cloistered.

Except about the only things I don't put garlic and basil on are instant oatmeal and toast.
    Whoopie!

(And no my IRL name is not "Alice" ;) )

"but won’t use the correct technique or they change the ingredients Then get mad because it didn’t work out right."

Or they substitute ingredients and screw it up and then serve the nasty mess to people and blame it on me. "It's johnbt's recipe!!!"

If someone wants a recipe we give it out. I’ve never asked anyone for their recipe.

I've tried to make things I've read about from SCRATCH...But so far I have not been able to find this SCRATCH stuff, so, I just buy ready made from a local market.

My wife makes these Christmas cookies every year, I would always take a couple dozen to each department at the Hospital. The following week I was over run with request for the recipe. I would always say "NO" it's a old family recipe.
I would then laugh and go on my way. The next year I was confronted by every body about that recipe. So I said OK. I would take out a empty Tallhouse Morsel package and Point at the recipe on the back, and say triple the morsels and double the nuts. The looks I got were very funny. Yes that was the recipe!
