That's what we should be doing. Holding a crew in quarantine for reserve so when inevitably a shift goes down they can fill the breech. I advised the administration to do this and they essentially told me to pound sand and everyone is going to work no matter what

Thats what crybabies are upset about here. Literally anything can be considered essential. About the only thing truly shutdown, is barbers/beauticians, gyms, and tattoo shops

System Operator (electric utility). Got the travel pass last week. Only one of us is on at a time. Less chance of spreading contamination, if one of us has it. We wipe everything down at the beginning and end of our shifts.

Many thanks to our Medical folks and First Responders. You folks are the Tip of the Spear. God bless you all.

OR RN. First wave of infections hitting our hospital in central PA. Low on PPE. Worried about running out of SICU nurses and RNs in general. Some have been quarantined already due to exposure. Anesthesia worried if we have enough vents when this gets rolling. Cases went from three to over twenty in a week. We had to convert some of our 40 ORs to negative pressure to handle any infected patients needing surgery. Emergency surgeries only to free up beds for Covid-19 patients. About 30% of OR staff reassigned to cover other needs in the hospital. No visitors allowed in hospital. Temperature checks for staff entering the facility starting Monday. We’ve been given letters from the hospital to show police if we are stopped on the road due to the increasing number of PA counties with shelter in place orders. Looks to get worse before it is better.

That cat looks like a Jaguar. I saw one down in Colombia. Have had tarantulas on my arm. My arms itched like crazy afterwards.

One of my sons manages stock at a supermarket. Right now he is on 12 hour shifts 7 days a week and his crews work day and night.

Another a nurse inspecting convalescent hospitals.

Youngest is a technician in the controlled atmosphere industry for agriculture.

All were told they must work.

Me, I'm disabled and retired so I stay at home

Hvac here. I guess nobody wants to be hot or cold. I had this discussion with the wife. If people are still considering climate control to be “critical”, then we probably aren’t doing too bad yet. A local donut shop got to stay open as well. They sell coffee and donuts and that is it. If they’re essential, I have a hard time taking the guidelines very seriously.

The battery plant I work at was deemed essential. We make UPS batteries for Nuclear Power Plants, Tele Com., hospitals (ventilators), railroads, and so on. I work 12 hr. shifts running the oxide mills. We were told our parts suppliers were also essential so we should keep going if we don't have a outbreak in the plant. Kansas Governor Kelly (Lady) issued stay at home orders for the state starting 12:01 am on Monday.

I work for a large health care provider in supply chain. Everyone in the building is considered essential and 99% of employees are working from home.
