Do you ever wonder if folks read the link before stating facts?

There is a thread regards motorcycles, 4 yr olds, Off duty Police and death.
Page after page goes on with info that is either NOT in story provided (and no source given) or is different then orig link (again no source given)
Its like facts are just made up??? I.E. story clearly says the 4 yr old had minor injuries (IIRC cuts, abrasions) yet pages later folks are saying the kid DIED on impact. The kid had a 18 yr old relative who was supposed to be watching. Yet folks are saying the father was wrong to be in resturant and letting his 4 yr old kid run free in streets with nobody watching.
Then you have folks who never make a mistake. Can make Sherlock Holmes look like a blind/deaf man. They can look at a vidio taken after event and know every detail in exacting detail. Up to, and including how each person was moving/reacting/ any items no longer at scene.
I alwasy thought I was good at reading a accident/incident/situation to guess what happened. I clearly was wrong.

That or we happen to have members who were present but have not come foreward to authorities with eye wittness reports. Must be the "Never talk to Police" idea :) Guess I am too tired.

I think you are attempting the reassembly of the lawn mower engine incorrectly. WTF is the problem that you have with reading the service/tech manual?

    ****ing n00b.

This is the Internet. Things like facts and being able to support your opinion don't matter.

I started a thread on another forum about a certain show that turned into nothing but bashing the show and the people on the show. When I asked for support of the points of view being expressed all I got was snide comments about how it's all over the Internet (because no one ever has an axe to grind and always states verifiable facts on the Internet). I told one guy that he can either support what he is saying or leave the thread and you would have thought I told God himself to go take a flying leap. Apparently once your post count hits a certain point you don't have to support what you're saying and someone with a lower post count doesn't have the right to question you. (There's no real point to this post other than upping my count to that point of being unquestionable. Lol). Seriously though, people really need to be able to support their opinion. I had a girlfriend that loved to argue even when she was dead wrong. I joked that if she wasn't right she would be wrong at the top of her lungs. That s pretty much how a lot of people on these forums are.

Just my two cents on the matter (to up my post count). Take it for what it's worth.

    All the time.

I must admit that I once made a comment, after having misread a link. I vowed to never again post before I had my coffee.

Or they will post a vague subject line and then only the link in their post. I don't read it and don't open the thread again. No time for that.

It's not just the internet, the same is true in real life. I hate to have to say it, but I generally don't accept anything that anyone tells me as fact unless it is accompanied by supporting evidence. I couldn't begin to count the times that I've offended someone by not taking their word for it only to have them realize that they were wrong when they went back to check the evidence in hopes of "showing me up".

I would challenge everyone here to self-examine their own critical thinking skills. Everyone likes to believe that they are the exception to this rule, but chances are you're not.

I've often wondered about the reading comprehension abilities of a lot of folks I see posting. Sometimes it's obvious they read the article, yet they seriously misstate things clearly said in the article.

Some of the stuff I see does not speak well for our education system IMO.

I have a few times. I quit doing that when people started pointing out the fact that I was an ignorant fool and I realized I couldn't argue with them.

When the thread gets to where you can't walk into it without getting your shoes covered in someone's piss who wanted to prove he could piss more than someone else, and it gets locked, you will retro actively get an infraction for this thread
