I wonder if the 24 hrs in jail counted against her unexcused absences?

Nice way to get her to drop out so she will avoid future jail terms.

Can't have hard working outstanding students biasing the curve. That would make other students and their teachers and the district look bad.

I admire this young lady’s will to survive after her parents abandoned her.

It seems to me, the judge has some misguided justice in mind. He could of handle this a little more professional in my opinion, and found out what the root cause was for her missing class. Then assign a Social Worker to help find a solution.

Her parents should rot in a very special place for doing this to their children. :steamed:

I'm going to try to find his contact info so that I can send him a letter and try to convince him to rethink this. I'm sure he didn't know the particulars when he made his initial decision.

I can't get the video to load, but from the posts on the thread, it seems this student has a really high IQ.

Place that on the list of one trillion, eleventy-million complete brainless and moraless decisions our worthless judges have made...

He needs to be grilled on his decision regarding this matter... As if I needed another reason to have less faith in our judicial system...

I'd love for someone more compuer saavy than I find a site that we can all protest on and have it sent to a place of his notice...

To be fair, juvenile court proceedings do not carry over to your adult record in most instances. And a contempt of court charge for truancy is not one of the exceptions.

She also goes to school full time, has a full time job and another part-time job. That girl has to be exhausted!

Some people are frightened by other people who will kill them, and/or set their house on fire.

I think that back in the 1950s there was quite a bit of brouhaha about how dangerous were the greased hair, leather jacket wearing delinquents too.

    Oooohhhhh....I'm so scared.

Thank you, sir. I'll definitely be writing him a not so nice letter.
