Do the different military services wear different shoes? If so, which branch do you think wears the coolest?:tongueout:

    Huh?

What do you mean by shoes? Boots? PT shoes?

This thread was supposed to be a joke but now I am actually curious. Do the different military branches really wear different PT shoes and boots or are they all the same. I know they have different uniforms but do they actually wear different kinds of boots? I can maybe see why they have different utility uniforms but I would think they could at least standardize on boots. :dunno:

    I'm gonna go utilize google.

PT Shoes are of commercial manufacture.....whatever you want to wear.

    Boots are different.

The USAF has the most disgusting puke green boots you ever saw in your life.

    The Army wears Tan

    The Marines Wear Coyote Brown.

The Navy wears (with their REALLY Disgusting blue cammo) black boots.

Ahh sorry, didn't mean to mess up your joke.

As for footwear in the military, it is all in the regulations. Some branches may be more lenient than others when it comes to boots and shoes.

I can only speak for the branch I served in which was the Army, but I know there were boots the Air Force could wear that I could never wear in the Army.

As for PT shoes in the Army, the choice is given to the soldier. I got out in 2004 (when all branches had BDU's) and since then, I believe all branches have gone to new uniforms so things have probably changed.

You just confirmed what I read on wikipedia. Do you have any idea why the services all have different boots?

Don't think any branch, aside from perhaps the Coast Guard, gets to wear spiffy white shoes.

Consider, ground, sea and air forces have different needs. A boot made for good performance on dirt is not that great on a wet deck or in an aircraft; a shoe made for good grip on a wet deck is not going to be that good in mud.

    <--- pre-dates 'athletic shoes'

PT shoes are by choice of the soldier, and we still wear the tan boots in the army

Please tell me that isn't really the new Air Force uniform. If it is, I can rule out joining that branch. That is the stupidest looking uniform I have ever seen.

AF is still authorized the tan boots the Army is issued.....AF just went to the "sage green" boots a couple years ago, but aren't mandatory until Oct 2011 IIRC....for some reason thought when you're in the AOR the AF makes you wear the tan ones still while you're deployed.....not sure in the logic, but whatda I know

We all wear the same Corafram dress shoes... except for sometimes the Navy. Occasionally I see Navy officers wearing brown ones.

Navy officers or enlisted(E-7 and above) can where brown dress shoes or boots ONLY if they are in Aviation. IE, Pilots, RIOs, Air Boss, Flight Deck personal, or some kind of Mech. As a Navy man once upon a time, the new uniforms suck.

It was one of the suggested new uniforms. It got canned.

Because they want to feel special and unique.
