I'm not too happy that I requested this as a Christmas present.

TOTALLY not what I was thinking it would be.

Some people on here really like it. I was not one of them.

What did you think it would be? I thought it was an ok movie, not academy material. At the end it left me with the wants for the alien guns. They were cool.

Well, I hope you never watch "Naked Lunch".

I can think of at least two things wrong with that movie's title.

    "Not all swans are white."

It was something wholly different than what I expected but, that didn't make it a bad movie.

Don't let your tantrum blind you to the possibility that it had fantastic character development, plot, cinematography, special effects and a decent story line.

Or, do. Either way, it was a good movie AND not at all what I expected.

I liked it, even in spite of the Apartheid allegory.

I thought it was wierd and funny. I liked it. Hell, it's a movie not a life altering experience.

I liked it, something different for once in the theaters at that time. Now the road on the other hand.....

Excellent movie in that it was fairly unique and pretty well done.

    Keep watching...

Lucky you. I wanted the District 9 DVD for Christmas and my stressed-out wife bought me a movie called District 13 instead.

It's not bad but I still want District 9.

    Agreed.
I loved the movie, but it did get better as the movie went on.

You shouldn't be posting likes or dislikes of any movie if you haven't even finished watching it yet.

I thought it was good for what it was. The first 10 minutes make you go "wow what ever D-bag thought of this crap should be ****ing shot",.... but it gets better.

Some of the gun fights were pretty good. Overall, better than a lot of new movies in the past year.

I liked it as well, I have learned to turn off my BS sensors when watching movies that are supposed to be mindless fun, give it a shot and you may end up liking the movie.

District 9 was a deep movie dealing with exploitation of minorities. Whether it be American Indians, Japanese(WW2), Italian, Catholic, Chinese(1800's), Africans, being victiminized takes many forms. Strong fudge over the weak-its how life is, sad to say...
