Just a few numbers from the study -

68% of teens admit to checking apps while driving.

80% of teens consider app use while driving “not distracting.”

12% of crashes involving teens were caused by cell phone use, according to a 2015 study.

Yup... If the ACTUAL intention is to save the lives of "children" -- we would be talking about banning cell phone ownership by teenagers before all else...

In 2015 alone, 3,477 people were killed, and 391,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. During daylight hours, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones while driving.

On my 30 minute commute, I see at least a half-dozen Bozos doing something stupid. And every one is on their cell phone.

This isn’t age specific either. I’ve seen many dip****s from every age group using their phones while they’re driving. I’m probably going to sell my bike because there’s too many idiots with their stupid faces buried in their phone to ride on public highways anymore:

But will they listen? Hell no! You'll see at least one idiot (any age...) texting when driving. I ALWAYS pull to the side of the road or a parking lot, etc. to make or receive calls.

Then we should lobby for a bill to force cell phone companies to come up with a solution that takes the cell phone out of the distracted driving and death equation NOW

Distracted driving causes thousands of deaths and about 10 BILLION dollars of damage EVERY. YEAR.

Generally speaking, teens + driving = risky. Add the phones, cars that go faster, other people that drive fast and wreckless, poor judgement, etc. I worry more about getting killed on the interstate everyday than being shot in random violence with a.....gasp...evil gun!

Already available. Apple IOS has a feature that allows it to auto reply to folks when it thinks you’re driving. You just have to enable it and as a parent you have to turn on parental controls for your kids phone.

With all that stated, I think the age requirement for driving needs to be kicked up to 21. If we are truly interested in protecting young lives, that is.

Wonder how good ole David Hogg would feel about the extra protection he was getting.

Not good enough- Needs to be embedded and turned on automatically for ANYONE
Nobody should be able to interact with the phone while in motion over X miles per hour
    and ESPECIALLY Under 21
