I'm talking k-12. The district I live in has a very high percentage of poor families. All students get free lunches(when there was school)
now they are talking about distance learning through wifi.
Our house does not have wifi. The elec. company is installing it now but bypassing sparsely populated areas.
After stating this I wish to note that I have not heard from my child's school in 5 months.
Would, 't you think they would try to access who needs the connections before school actually starts?
\ There are approx. 110 student's in the district. They have a superintendent, an assisttant superintendent , principal, and vice principal .

May as well home school or demand they open up the schools, or shut it down.

    In person
    Online
    Packets

Those are the 3 options that seem to be likely here. Those who want to go in person, can. Those who don't want to go in person don't have to and can do it online. Those who don't want to go but don't have the interwebs/computer can get packets dropped off on their porch to be completed and have a phone number to call for instructional help.

I don't understand the drive to keep kids out of school.
It does not fit the liberal agenda of keeping kids away from parental influence, so they can be more easily brainwashed.

Wifi is included with your router, it is installed by your internet provider. If you can access the internet you probably have wifi unless all you have is mobile data. I don't know any routers that don't have wifi built in.

Well, if we get right down to it, it is not the government's job to educate our children. That line of thinking is partly responsible for why we're where we are right now. Figure out what you need to do and turn to. If you're waiting around on the government to solve your problem, YOU are part of the problem. That's all the advice I have for you.

The last yrs parents have said home internet is required by schools. (Basically). The student can download stuff at school, turn it in once they connect next day. But it’s almost required.

You would think that access to the internet would be treated as a utility by now...

You mean you go buy as much as you need? Pretty sure we've got that already.

What do you mean the electric company is installing WiFi?

You haven't heard from them in 5 months? Do you have a phone? You can always try calling them yourself.

There is a movement afoot to provide free internet access. Consumer Reports is participating. More taxpayer money to provide a service that people will use for kitten videos. If provided, it should come from the school's budget. Fewer "teachers" and administrators are what is needed.

Then there is Washington States approach
The guide cited a theoretical reopening plan that would "serve students furthest from educational justice first," among which it cited "students of color."

Others recommended to receive priority reopening slots included "students with disabilities, English learners, students experiencing homelessness, [and] students experiencing poverty."
