    Hi guys

I was wondering if there is a way to disable windows messenger in the following sense. I don't want to permanently get rid of it or anything like that. The thing I don't like about it is whenever I have to restart my computer, windows messenger logs on and people know I am on-line and start messaging me. Sometimes, I don't want to talk to these people. I just want to check my e-mail or get on the internet. Just so you know I have unchecked the "run messenger when windows logs on" box. But it still runs as soon as I hit the internet or e-mail icons. Thanks for any help.

    yeah real easy.

Just go into options on the menu and uncheck the two other buttons in the same area if I remember right that say something similar.

Every button in that section has been unchecked. It does not affect it.

I have looked at every single setting under every tab and can not find a way to give me the control I should have.

This page is giving instructions on permanently disabling it. That is not what I want to do. I just want it to run when I activate it instead of it running on it's own. It should not be on auto pilot like my home air conditioning. It would be fine if it was on auto pilot if it didn't tell the whole world that I am on the internet or checking my e-mail.
