Will the dillon powder check die work with the 550? I see on their website its shown as fitting the 650 and 1050. I have an unused die station -I use RCBS dies so seat and crimp is the same die.
    Any experience with this?

Yes, if you seat and crimp at the same time you can use a powder check on a 550.

Are you sure? Doesn't the 650 Toolhead have a small hole for the rod to go through?...

You could probably use an RCBS Lockout die, or any other Powder check die, but I don't think the Dillon Powder Check will work(which is what it seems he was asking about).

Edit: I think the 550 is missing that small hole next to station 3. http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/content/p/9/pid/23807/catid/3/XL_650_Toolhead

Indy is correct. The Dillon die has a second rod that runs down through the tool head and to the shell plate.

Sorry, I thought others had done it even with the Dillon of the 550. Maybe they drilled a hole. Not sure if something else would get in the way (like the star). RCBS has a lock out die. Hornady has a visual confirmation die.

Thanks for the info guys. I will look into an RCBS powder check die.

You can use it if you drill the hole.

The RCBS or Hornady die will be an easier fit to the 550, cheaper too.
