    Hi guys.
    I have a gen 2 and a gen 3 glock 22.
I had a couple of the mags mixed up. There are definitely differences, but I don't know which mag which gen.
Is there a photo somewhere that shows the difference?

Also, can older gen mags go in newer guns and can newer gen mags go in older guns?

    Thanks!

The are all interchangeable unless you are reversing the mag release to left hand on a gen 4 or using the ambi release. There have been several variations in mag bodies and also followers and floor plates.

    Is any one style better?
I have 6 total and looking at them now, there are at least 5 different styles.
One has an exposed piece of metal on the front of the mag next to the catch.
The others just seem to vary with the followers.

So any of them would be fine in a gen 2 or a gen 3 glock 22?

I guess I'm just curious which ones would have come with my gen 2.

The Gen2 mags won't have the exposed metal on the front and will only have a notch for the catch on one side.

Maybe some of the early Gen3 mags are like this also, but not sure.

    Thanks guys!
So is this photo from left right a gen 2, a gen 3, and then a gen 4?

A U-shaped notch on the back (top) of the mag is a dead giveaway for gen 2. Also, if you load them up, they will not drop free and they fit more flush to the bottom of the grip.

    Bottom to top: gen2, gen3, gen4 (gen2 is 9mm):

If you do actually have a pre-ban mag, they still sell for over $55 each, to buyers in the states with restrictions. At one time they were selling for nearly $200 each.

Gen2 are not always U-notch and non-drop free (non-metal lined). Only Gen1 and very, very early Gen2.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. I'm going by what I have in hand.
